"THE LORD IS MY ROCK, MY FORTRESS, AND MY DELIVERER. MY GOD IS MY ROCK IN WHOM I TAKE REFUGE, MY SHIELD, AND THE HORN OF MY SALVATION, MY STRONGHOLD." PSALM 18:2

Our Programs
At Legacy Farmstead, we recognize that post-traumatic stress and chronic stress from repeated exposure to trauma not only impact Veterans and First Responders, but also ripples through their families. The emotional toll, strain on relationships, and challenges of daily life affect everyone.
Our programs are designed to address these challenges holistically, working with both the individual and their families to foster healing and restoration. By providing opportunities to battle and overcome together, we aim to strengthen bonds, rebuild trust, and create a foundation for long-term resilience. We offer a variety of tailored experiences to meet the unique needs of each family. At Legacy Farmstead, we are committed to helping families not only survive but thrive, ensuring that no one walks this journey alone.

Equine- Assisted Learning
God uniquely designed horses to play a profound role in human healing. For individuals battling post-traumatic and chronic stress, the daily emotional struggle can often lead to damaging coping mechanisms, such as substance abuse. However, equine-assisted learning has been proven to provide emotional stability and open pathways to healing through Jesus Christ that traditional therapy methods often cannot achieve.
Interacting with horses reduces stress, aids in long-term mental health recovery, and fosters emotional breakthroughs. Through general horsemanship and groundwork exercises, individuals build trust, develop comfort, and establish meaningful connections. Activities like caring for, feeding, and grooming horses have been shown to lower stress levels, reduce blood pressure, and improve overall well-being.
Scientific studies have even documented that simply being in the presence of horses can alter human brainwave patterns, promoting calm and focus. Horses, with their gentle strength and innate ability to mirror human emotions, create a safe and non-judgmental environment where people can truly begin to heal.
As Winston Churchill once said, “There’s something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” At Legacy Farmstead, we’ve witnessed this truth firsthand as horses help Veterans, First Responders, and their families find hope, healing, and a path toward restoration.

Restorative Retreats
At Legacy Farmstead, we offer Veterans and First Responder families the opportunity to escape the demands of everyday life and reconnect in a peaceful, healing environment—all at no cost to them. Our restorative retreats span at least a full weekend, providing a chance to disconnect from stress and immerse themselves in the beauty and serenity of God’s creation.
From breathtaking sunsets over the Texas Hill Country to hands-on experiences with our horses, every moment is designed to foster healing and connection. Families can gather fresh farm eggs, enjoy the playful affection of our mini goats, relax around the fire pit at the top of the rock, or spend time feeding and caring for our other animals. The calming atmosphere of the great outdoors sets the tone for reflection, rest, and restoration.
All meals are lovingly prepared and provided, so families can focus entirely on being present with one another. This retreat is not just a getaway—it’s the beginning of a journey toward renewed hope, strengthened relationships, and a deeper sense of peace that only comes from The Lord.
Here, these weekends are more than an escape—they’re an invitation to experience God’s healing touch and rediscover the joy of being together.

Critical Stress Debriefings & Resiliency Training
We provide essential support for First Responders and their families through Critical Stress Debriefings and Resiliency Training—programs designed to address the mental and emotional demands of service.
Critical Stress Debriefings
After a traumatic event, it is vital for First Responders to process their experiences in a supportive and restorative environment. Our Critical Stress Debriefings take place within the first three days of an incident, welcoming both affected units and their families. By gathering in the calming setting of nature, these debriefings allow teams to process the event together, fostering connection and understanding.
We’ve seen remarkable results in our local law enforcement and federal agency partners, as the structured and compassionate setting helps alleviate the emotional weight of trauma, promoting healing and unity within teams.
Resiliency Training
Resiliency Training takes a proactive approach to equip First Responders with the tools to sustain the ongoing demands of their service. Through workshops, self-care practices, and interactive exercises, participants learn how to build personal resilience and enhance readiness for future challenges. This training emphasizes recovery, relaxation, and sustainable self-care strategies.
We host these programs for units from various departments and agencies, creating opportunities for collaboration and shared growth. Both Critical Stress Debriefings and Resiliency Training focus on non-pharmaceutical, alternative methods to encourage mental health and well-being.
At Legacy Farmstead, we are dedicated to helping First Responders thrive—providing them and their families with the resources, tools, and community needed to endure and overcome the unique challenges of their roles.

Peer Support
Peer support is a powerful tool for overcoming life’s challenges, offering encouragement and assistance from someone who truly understands—someone who has walked a similar path. At Legacy Farmstead, the majority of our team, from leadership to volunteers, consists of individuals who have served and are now dedicated to using their lived experiences to support others.
Our peer support program provides:
-
Emotional Support: A compassionate listening ear and understanding heart for those navigating difficult times.
-
Shared Knowledge: Insights and lessons learned from firsthand experiences to inspire hope and resilience.
-
Practical Assistance: Guidance and hands-on help for addressing immediate needs or challenges.
-
Connection to Resources: Helping individuals and families access tools, opportunities, and networks that can aid in their healing journey.
Whether it's offering encouragement, sharing personal stories, or providing actionable solutions, our team is ready to serve with empathy and purpose. At Legacy Farmstead, we believe no one should face their trials alone, and through peer support, we walk alongside those who need it most, helping them find strength, healing, and community.

Community Connections
We believe one of the most fundamental needs for thriving is a sense of community—a place to belong, find camaraderie, and feel like part of a family. For many Veterans, First Responders, and their families, this vital connection is often missing, and our mission is to help restore it.
Our ultimate goal is to create a supportive and lasting community for those we serve. It brings us immense joy to see families who initially come to us individually form meaningful relationships with others who have also experienced the healing and connection found here. These bonds grow into a network of mutual support, where individuals and families walk alongside one another through life’s challenges and victories.
We foster these connections through frequent community events that bring everyone together to share experiences, laughter, and encouragement. These gatherings create opportunities to build relationships, strengthen ties, and nurture a thriving community where no one feels alone.
Here, community isn’t just a goal—it’s the heartbeat of who we are and what we do.

Multi County Non Profit Collaborations
We are deeply honored to partner with a vast network of non-profit organizations that share our mission of honoring and serving our nation’s heroes. These collaborations unite organizations with a shared purpose: to provide hope, healing, and restoration for those who have sacrificed so much.
By working together, we can achieve more than we ever could individually. Joining forces allows us to pool resources, share expertise, and expand the reach of our impact. This teamwork not only blesses more lives but also offers individuals and families access to a broader range of restorative methods and opportunities.
Although each organization may have its own unique focus, our collective effort amplifies the support and care available to Veterans, First Responders, and their families. Together, we’re creating a powerful network of care that brings hope and healing to communities across multiple counties.
Collaboration isn’t just a strategy—it’s a testament to the power of unity in serving those who have given so much.
